Building Community Together

This month we had the opportunity to partner with Americans for Financial Reform (AFR) to create a nationally-reaching video about tenant organizing in response to private equity landlords like Progress Residential. Thanks to all our members who shared their stories and wisdom while welcoming AFR into their homes!

Their stories and wisdom left one thing clear, the importance of the Village to maintain and sustain healthy and strong communities where planting seeds and growing roots is essential. We look forward to sharing the video when it comes out.

Happy Black History Month. The Northside has no shortage of deep history that reminds us that when WE FIGHT...WE WIN!!!! Our ancestors are with us as we continue to fight for the right to safe and dignified housing for all. If you would like to know more, here is a video that talks about the continuation of the effects redlining is still causing today. Jim Crow of the North Documentary.

Tenant Unions

The Tenant Unions campaign continues their work at 3100 Bloomington Ave. An administrator who was appointed by the court is currently working at 3100 Bloomington to conduct an evaluation of the building. The evaluation will help develop a proposal for all of the needed repairs.

Calling all Volunteers

Are you interested in meeting your neighbors while learning more about the need for rent stabilization in Minneapolis? Seeds of Hope - a group of tenants organizing to pass a strong rent stabilization policy - is looking for volunteers!

Volunteers would help them door knock every Monday from 11:30 am-1:30 pm and Thursday from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm. If you are only available one of the two days that is fine too. They will be conducting door knocks every week to educate and talk about the need for rent stabilization in Minneapolis. Join us every week to knock on doors together!

You're the Best!

To all of our donors, allies, and members of the community we want to thank you all for being so supportive of our work. Each donor, ally, and member that supports our work, shows up to actions, and volunteers gives us the opportunity to continue to push for a stronger community, helping bring tenants together for safe, affordable, and dignified housing. This work is so important to us. For a lot of us at IX it hits home when we see people in our communities struggling to keep a roof over their heads. Housing is a human need and a human right. No one should have to worry about not having a place to rest. They should be able to build memories, feel safe, and have a place to call home. We are extremely grateful for having such amazing people who believe in our work. There are not enough words to express how grateful we are
